Apple Festival weekend at market!!!

Hello all!

[photo] We've been back and forth with the cold. After several warmer nights, we're supposed to drop well below freezing again. The last cold night took out the last of our field-grown lettuce, sadly, as it was looking quite nice.

This week's produce, with a much more "Fall" look to it ... (new or back)

  • Greens: arugula, cabbage (green & red), rainbow chard, cress, Italian dandelions, kale (Lacinato & curly), Butterhead lettuce, lettuce mix, mustard, pea shoots, spinach & our stir fry greens mix.
  • Veggies: beets, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, carrots, cauliflower, fennel, garlic, kohlrabi, leeks, Lemongrass & curry pack, onions, chile peppers, potatoes, radishes (black, daikon & purple), roasted roots pack, shallots, sorrel soup pack, sweet potatoes, tomatoes (cherry), winter squashes & zucchini.
  • Herbs: chives, garlic chives, cutting celery, lemongrass, lovage, mints (spear & pepper), parsley, rosemary, sage, sorrel & our mini-sampler.
  • Eggs: Yup.
  • Cheese & butter: Both.
  • Preserves: Yes.
  • Tree fruit: apples (four new kinds plus our mixed pack) & pears (Asian & bosc).

Thanks for your support,
Randy, Chris & Sam at ...

[photo] Chris and I snuck off for a 30-hour vacation Sunday and into Monday. Sunday was beautiful as we drove to Hancock, MD along the C&O Canal for a nice lunch, before driving over to Berkeley Springs, WV for dinner and cocktails, and then heading out to the "retro" Cacapon State Park Lodge near this lake.

The weather turned gray Monday, but there was still some beautiful foliage to see. Drove to Shepherdstown, WV for a walk around the old town and had a nice lunch across from the college, then back through MD and into PA over the mountains. It was a nice break, and our first real getaway since the season began.
