Hello all,

Well, we did get a surprise to start off the week. Sunday night's weather forecast was for a low of 40 degrees, thus we didn't bother to roll down the sides of the tomato tunnel or harvest anything. Why would we? Monday morning when I came downstairs and looked outside I thought perhaps we should have. Our thermometer read 32 degrees and many plant leaves in the gardens were frozen stiff. October 1 -- the day I'm talking about -- is our average first-frost date, so it shouldn't seem unusual, except for that 40 degree forecast. Our few remaining basil plants were completely frozen down, as were the zinnias shown in last week's email. Everything else was less clear: frozen leaves, but unclear if fruit skins had actually been frosted or not. We have sorted everything once already, and will no doubt go through it at least one more time before filling orders. Just more work for the weary! :)

[photo] Monday turned out to be our Lemongrass harvest festival, always a frolicking good time. Looks like a good crop and we have lots of it for you.

Product review emails...
We just learned for the first time that some of you (all?) have been receiving emails from our store asking you to review the products purchased recently from us. We never set our store up to do that, and would not harass you that way. We don't know how long it has happened, but I just found a spot in the back of the store where I've never been and there was a check-box marked "YES, send emails asking customers for reviews." I just now unchecked it. Sorry 'bout that!

Thanks for your support in the past, and hopefully in the future as well,
Randy, Chris & Sam at ...

[photo] Kind of a jerry-rig, but this is our tomato transport from the field to the packing shed. Hey, it works and didn't cost a penny extra!
