Farm Tour (updated 01/21/08)

Star Hollow Farm is nestled into Pennsylvania's ridge and valley topography in Huntingdon County. The closest towns that folks from out of the area have heard of usually are Chambersburg or Gettysburg, each an hour or so away. Our farm is bordered on three sides by Sideling Hill Creek, and the land surrounding us is predominantly woods, great habitat for the white-tailed deer that are our nemesis here. Our 15 acres or so of fertile bottom land are irrigated by the creek when it is dry, and flooded by it when it overflows (including a 14-ft-deep drowning by Hurricane Ivan). It eventually joins the Susquehanna River, and empties into the upper Chesapeake at Havre de Grace.  We are on the border between climate zones 6 and 7, meaning a somewhat harsher winter and shorter growing season than Washington, DC.

Following are links to short slide shows highlighting the farm in general, what we grow, and us over the course of the year. (We haven't figured out how to update these slideshows since someone helped us build them, so they're several years old, but in reality the farm doesn't look much different! We're just a little bit older.)
