Produce and Products (updated 01/22/08)

Here at Star Hollow Farm we grow a wide range of vegetables, most of them in small quantities. Within each crop we typically plant multiple varieties, up to 15 in the case of tomatoes. Standard red tomatoes are our best sellers, followed by cucumbers, greens and herbs. Everything we grow on our farm is certified organic, but that is only a fraction of what we sell. Our produce policy is:

local AND organic whenever possible;
local OR organic whenever necessary.

CROP AND PRODUCT LIST
For a listing of the crops that we sell at our farmer's market, and offer online, see our Crop and Product List (printer-friendly version). The list includes notation of which items are usually grown locally and which are usually grown organically. We add new items from time to time, so not every single item is on the list, but it's close.

CROP SEASON CHART
To give you a general idea of when different produce items should be available from us, refer to our Crop Season Chart (printer-friendly version). It represents our growing conditions in Pennsylvania, and of course varies somewhat from year to year.

WINTER PRODUCE
In January, February and March, when we are just doing our online market and CSA, we're at a pretty low point for local produce. In the past we've brought in California organic to fill the gap. This winter, however, we're trying to stay more local, so will fill in with some East Coast organic produce from out of our immediate area. Hope you approve of our efforts to reduce food miles, even though it might make for a less interesting list for you (and reduced sales for us!).
